Yellow Transportation and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Agree on New Service Offering
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jun 28, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via Comtex/ -- Yellow Transportation and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), who represent the drivers, dockworkers and other employees of Yellow Transportation, have reached an agreement on how Yellow Transportation "Next Day" service will roll out. Yellow Transportation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Roadway Corporation (Nasdaq: YELL).
The transportation services provider expects to operate several overnight, less-than-truckload transportation corridors through 500-mile interlocking regions in the Northeast.
This new offering is expected to allow Yellow Transportation to compete in the overnight market as well as speed up its existing two and three day corridor lanes.
Bill Zollars, Chairman, President & CEO of Yellow Roadway Corporation said, "We expect to offer the new service upon a successful conclusion of a change of operations hearing with the IBT with implementation around the end of the year."
