National Association of Manufacturers and Yellow Transportation Join For Upcoming NASCAR Race to Salute National Manufacturing WeekDARLINGTON, S.C., Mar 14, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the country's largest industrial trade association, announced today that they are teaming up with Yellow Transportation, a subsidiary of Yellow Corporation (Nasdaq: YELL), for the upcoming NASCAR Busch Grand National Series race in Darlington, South Carolina on Saturday, March 16. The partnership is being launched in conjunction with National Manufacturing Week, which is celebrated annually March 18-21.

In keeping with the race mantra, this year's National Manufacturing Week theme is "Rally for Manufacturing." The Yellow car, driven by Jimmy Spencer, also known as "Mr. Excitement," will feature the NAM logo on both rear quarter panels. NAM officials will also participate with Yellow in pre- and post-race events.

"We are pleased to partner with NAM in a high-profile event like NASCAR racing," said James Welch, president, Yellow Transportation. "At Yellow Corporation, our core purpose is to make global commerce work by connecting people, places and information. NAM, with its 14 million members, also makes global commerce work through its mission to strengthen and support all sectors of manufacturing. We are both natural partners with common goals and shared interests."

Yellow is a preferred transportation provider for the association and its 14,000 member companies. In addition, Bill Zollars, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Yellow Corporation, is a member of the NAM Board of Directors.

"NAM seeks to raise understanding among policymakers, the media and the general public of the importance of manufacturing to the economic strength of the country," said Don Wainwright, Chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers. "The racing event with Yellow Transportation furthers those goals.

"On behalf of the millions of men and women of America's manufacturing community, we are delighted to make our NASCAR debut with a presence on the Yellow race car," Wainwright continued. "The partnership is an ideal way to set the stage for National Manufacturing Week, and to encourage people to rally around manufacturing and our role in the economic recovery. It also is a source of pride to the manufacturing community nationwide."

About NAM

NAM was founded in 1895, during a deep recession when many manufacturing companies were looking for ways to find new customers. The Dixie, an influential newspaper in the South, also played a role by calling for formation of a national association to help manufacturers.

The first organizing meeting was held in Cincinnati, Ohio. A total of 583 association and manufacturing executives attended, and adopted objectives aimed at extending foreign trade. Since then, the association has played a unique role in promoting a strong manufacturing economy and economic growth. For more information on NAM, go to www.nam.org .
